Our journey began on 25th December, when our founder, Mr Ho Yew Ping, opened the On Cheong goldsmith shop at 454 North Bridge Road, laying the first stone and bringing beautiful gold jewellery to the heart of the local community.
安昌的历程始于12月25日，何辉平先生在小坡大马路454号开设了安昌金铺，奠下了第一块基石，将精美的黄金首饰带入当地社区的生活。
1940-1950
We relocated to 251 South Bridge Road — once known as Goldsmiths’ Row — and welcomed Kwong Yik and later Nan Jing Goldsmiths into our fold. In this era, we also became a private limited company, strengthening our roots for generations to come.
我们迁至南桥路251号——昔日誉为“金匠街”——并先后迎来广益与南京金铺的加入。此时，我们亦成立私人有限公司，为世代传承奠定坚实根基。
1960-1986

Bedok Town Central Branch
We opened our Bedok Town Central Branch, cherishing the opportunity to serve the Bedok community and create lasting memories, while being honoured to participate in De Beers’ Diamond of Distinction programme — a milestone in our enduring legacy of fine jewellery.

Grand Opening of On Cheong New Bridge Branch
We marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of our New Bridge Branch. Distinguished guests, community leaders, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the commencement of business, reinforcing our brand’s enduring heritage and presence in Singapore’s jewellery landscape.

Acquired the adjacent unit at South Bridge Road, then owned by Malayan Banking Berhad (MBB). Headquarters at South Bridge Road expanded and reopened, forming the largest showroom in Chinatown.

As the new millennium began, On Cheong transformed from On Cheong Goldsmith into On Cheong Jewellery, opening a new chapter in our story. Our showrooms were thoughtfully refreshed, blending modern elegance with a welcoming, refined atmosphere where every visitor feels valued. With care, craftsmanship, and innovation at the heart of each piece, we continue to create jewellery that celebrates life’s most cherished moments.
